We are the only large building in front of Magura Cave with a total area of 500 m2. Built in 1964, as a hotel and restaurant, throughout its existence until now, the building serves tourists visiting this natural landmark.
As this archive photo shows, the building was extremely modern for its time.
Our desire
is to give new meaning and new life to the building and make it even more
useful for tourists. After long studies of the place and the region, the wishes
and needs of the tourists, as well as the existing deficiencies in the tourist
offer, we decided that the most useful option for tourism in the region is the
creation of a Tourist Information Center. In it we will make a replica of the
unique prehistoric drawings from the Magura cave in Northwestern Bulgaria.
The
information center will include:
- Replica of
the main cave painting scenes from Magura Cave
-
Interactive museum of prehistoric man
- Digital
Museum of Prehistoric Art
- Digital
museum of prehistoric cave art
- Ticket
Center
- Panoramic
roof terrace
- Modern
public toilets
- Refined
surrounding spaces with a lot of tourist infrastructure - tables, benches,
pergolas, information boards
Bulgaria is
a country woven from ancient traditions, customs and mysteries. It is a place
where ancient cultures have left their traces for millennia. One of the most
remarkable places in Bulgaria is the Magura cave. Known in the past as the
Rabishka cave, it amazes not only with its majestic dimensions and amazing rock
formations, but also with the drawings on its walls. This rock art is the work
of people who lived thousands of years ago on these lands.
Our goal is
to help preserve a priceless Bulgarian cultural heritage, which is the Magura
cave with its rock paintings. We all have a duty to future generations to
preserve and pass on all the secrets, riches and knowledge we discover on our
lands. It would be a shame for our generation to witness the destruction of
artifacts that survived thousands of years before us. With this project, we
will try to do just that - to pass on the wisdom and history bequeathed to us
from antiquity, without harming the cave paintings.
